A Study of the Relationship between AC/A Ratio by Heterophoria Methodand Sheard¡¯s Criterion at Reading
Cha Jung-Won

Abstract
Purpose: To study the relationship between AC/A ratio measured using the heterophoria method and prism prescription based on Sheard's criterion.

Methods: The AC/A ratio values calculated using the heterophoria method and prism prescriptions based on Sheard's criterion were obtained from 75 university students aged between 20 and 40 years, with a minimum corrected visual acuity of 0.9 and without any suppression, ophthalmological disease, or medical history of strabotomy. Correlation analysis was performed using SPSS 23.0 to understand the relationship between the two variables.

Results: There was a significant negative correlation (Pearson correlation coefficient: ?0.531, p < 0.01) between the AC/A ratio by using heterophoria method and prism prescription by using Sheard's criterion.

Conclusion: The higher the AC/A ratio, the lower is the Sheard¡¯s criterion prism prescription.
